A panel that behaves like one piece of timber.
Solid wood doesn't come in unlimited widths, so an edge glued sheet is how we get past that limit without giving up the material itself. Straight strips of timber are selected, planed square and glued edge to edge under pressure until they set as one continuous panel.
Done properly, the joints sit flush and tight enough that the board reads as a single wide plank rather than a set of glued-up pieces — and it moves less with humidity than a single wide board of the same species would on its own.

Three ways to build the sheet
Straight Edge Glued
Full-length strips joined along a plain straight edge, so the grain runs unbroken across the panel. The choice when the surface stays natural and visible.
Finger-Jointed
Shorter offcuts joined end to end with an interlocking finger joint, then glued edge to edge. A more efficient use of the timber, made for surfaces that will be painted, laminated or veneered.
Select Grade
Strips chosen for clear, consistent grain and finished smooth on both faces — for shutters, tops and panels where every surface is on show.
The joint should disappear.
A good edge glued sheet doesn't announce where one strip ends and the next begins. We match tone and grain direction before the glue-up, not after, and sand the whole face flat once it has cured so the seam sits level with the surrounding wood.
The same care goes into moisture content — timber that isn't dried evenly will show its joints again in a season or two, so we condition the strips before they ever reach the press.
