A staircase takes the entire weight of a household several times a day, in the same few places, for decades. That is a different brief from a floor or a wall, and it is why we make treads from solid stock rather than a veneered board with a pretty face.
Every set is cut to the rise and run of the actual staircase, not to a standard length — then finished so the grain still reads once the balustrade goes on and the lights are turned down.

Three ways to carry a tread
Cantilevered
Treads anchored into the wall with nothing underneath them. The cleanest look, and the one that asks most of the timber.
Open Riser
Treads carried on a central steel spine, with daylight passing straight through the flight.
Full Flight
A complete run with balustrade and handrail, where the staircase is meant to read as a solid piece of joinery.
Light belongs under the nosing.
Concealed lighting has to be planned into the tread before it is cut, not chased in afterwards. We machine the rebate as part of the job, so the strip sits flush, throws an even line down the flight, and stays invisible from above.
The same applies to fixings, brackets and balustrade posts — all set out while the timber is still on the bench.
